So it’s been two years since I last held the Rosso e Nero contest, so felt like holding another one. But rather than be my Rosso guys, it’s the “Eldris, Nazir, Dekker, Zeke OC Contest: Draw my Guys for the Chance to Win Stuff 8D”. Or ENDZ Contest for short – in my mind these four are ‘the Four Morons’ which isn’t the best of titles haha xD Also with four dudes to choose from, it makes things a little more varied ;3

 

Working much like the last contest - I challenge you, regardless of your abilities, to draw my four characters. Together, one their own, in pairs, however you want, whichever you want. If you’re not confident in drawing people? Give it a go! And if you can’t, any other media is accepted! Writing, crafting, if you can think of something creative, you can do it.

 

This won’t be judged on just style of skill. It’ll be based off creativity, effort, originality, and all those wonderful things. This is a chance for you to try something different and improve your own skills C:

All winners will also win a month long feature in my journal. 

 

If there aren’t enough entries, third place may be knocked out, but the last contest was popular enough to warrant it!

 

I offer these options because I know people have bills to pay and money is preferable, so the winners can choose whatever they wish.

 

Judges will most likely be friends/family to narrow the selection down if there are a good number of entries. Then with a smaller number to choose from, I’ll put a poll up for you guys to pick your favourite. To avoid any bias, I’ll avoid input, and everyone can have their own chance to be a part, whether entering of not. If you want to be a judge rather than enter prior to the final poll, just say C:

The Guyz

 

“Us though? We hardly know each other. A hunter from the south, an ex-cavalryman with no horse, a despicable and slightly unstable petty criminal, and a famed wandering minstrel such as myself; not exactly a heroic bunch. Even I’d be hard pressed to make us sound great in a song.”

“Could be worse,” Dekker pointed out.

“Well of course, I could be stuck with three of you,” Zeke agreed.

“You’re looking at it wrong, Zeke,” Eldris disagreed, “We’ve got a man who can shoot arrows fair straighter and far truer than any man, elf or otherwise I’ve ever seen in this kingdom in Nazir, a surprisingly powerful manipulator of people and their emotions in you and your music, a halfling that can steal your clothes off your back without you even noticing and vanish into the shadows before your eyes,  and of course myself, and I’m handy with a sword. And we all have our own unique take on magic. Nature, minds, shadows, elements, just between us. Maybe we’re not heroes now, but give us purpose and time and we could be.”

“Or we could be dead. That too,” Zeke sighed heavily. 

 

 Eldris Lathael, Nazir Daq’ar, Dekker Foxwit and Zeke Songweaver… Primarily Dungeons and Dragons characters, they double up as models for me to doodle in their spare time, write with as a group that just about get along, and are just fun to put in situations beyond a typical fantasy setting.

 

While Eldris and Zeke are from two different worlds, and Dekker and Nazir have their own third world, the four of them are easy to smush together because of their different skill sets and personalities. When together, Zeke tends to take the lead, Eldris acts as bodyguard, Nazir as scout and hunter while Dekker… No one quite knows why Dekker is there. He just… is. And also out of campaigns, I like to make them slightly different, so they have skills that I feel they ought to ;3

 

All profiles are… so and so. Dekker’s needs updating, may get to it at some point. I’ve not included backgrounds because 1) Dekker’s has changed completely and I’ve not written it out yet and 2) Zeke’s background is purposefully not supposed to be known ;D

 

 

So in no particular order ~

 

“Mad I may be, but I’m not half as stupid as you think, like,” he smirked, “Never overlook the little things,” he indicated himself with the point of his pint-sized blade.

 

Dekker Foxwit is a bit of a madman. Well, a mad halfling. He’s a chaotic neutral, heavily Irish-accented leprechaun rogue; a petty thief who steals because he can, has a moral compass that’s regularly broken and a mischievous streak. He’s also a bit of a coward, running away if things get dangerous, but if he does stick around and if he does offer a helping hand, be honoured. That said, he’s not a bad guy. He’s not evil, and he doesn’t go out of his way to be malicious. He wants to live by his own rules and have fun, and sometimes that means doing things that aren’t always the best of ideas. He’s a bit of a dancer, and that’s reflected in how he walks since he prances almost everywhere he goes, though he does tend to lurk in the shadows rather than stand in the limelight. He’s somewhat skilled at manipulating the shadows themselves and can jump between them like a sneaky sneak that he is.

“And now he’s potentially going to rip the world apart,” Eldris added, “So even more of a reason to go after him with a renewed sense of vigour. So, to be fair, even if you’re reluctant, I’m still going. We know first-hand that this lord is a madman with little care for anyone who gets in his way. To stand by when he could potentially put countless lives at risk for power? I’d like to think you’d have worked out by now that’s exactly what I left my home to tackle. I won’t just step aside and let this happen, even if I go alone.”

 

Eldris Lathael is a gung-ho wannabe hero. He’s a chaotic good half-elf fighter/eldritch knight who is capable of using elemental magic, with a preference for fire and lightning, to boost his prowess with a longsword. He’s a little lacking in common sense and will throw himself into danger without much thought if he feels someone is threatened. He’s generally a warm and friendly individual who fashions himself as some kind of defender of freedom – he believes that everyone should be able to make their own choices in their life without it being dictated to them by an outward force, like the law or another ruling power. But if someone makes a decision, even if he disagrees with it, he won’t press the issue any further. He knows he can’t preach freedom and then trample on people just because they choose a path he doesn’t like.

Nazir looked to Dekker flatly and muttered something in his smooth and musical mother tongue.
Clearly able to understand him, Zeke nodded in agreement with what could only have been an insult.

 

Nazir Daq’ar is the typical strong silent type, thoughtful but of few words. He’s a neutral good ranger who comes from a tribal-based desert homeland far off any map to the south. Stoic and straight to the point, when Nazir speaks, you ought to listen, even if he is a little unskilled with the common language. An ace with a bow and arrow, he’s not only good in combat, but also a fine hunter, often working with his saker falcon companion, Shaq, to bring down prey. He’s also adept at using magic within nature, able to communicate with various animals, and bend plants and trees to his will. Also while Dekker is better at stealth, Nazir makes a much better scout, able to move through any kind of terrain with silence and speed, aided with by Shaq once again.

“You’re in my seat, gnome,” the man jabbed a finger in his direction.
Zeke dropped his brow into a frown and looked down at the stool he was perched on, “Oh I’m sorry,” he glanced up, “I didn’t see your name engraved in it,” he looked down once more and peered at it, “No, I’m so very sorry, ‘Moronic Human’ is most definitely not there.” 

  

Zeke Songweaver is a charming, but manipulative musician with a hint of a temper. He’s a chaotic neutral rather roguish gnome bard who focuses on playing the lute, singing and occasionally storytelling. His aim in life is to be the centre of attention, no matter what, and for that reason has made himself into a character of sorts with his penchant for purple and gold and his distinctive appearance – he claims to have forgotten who he as before he became ‘Zeke’, he’s put that much effort into recreating himself. As a stereotypical bard, he likes to think of himself as a great lover, of both women and men (though leans to the latter), and is very much a people person, whether said people like it or not. Using music of any sort, even humming, he is able to manipulate and charm people in various ways, from influencing their emotions to controlling them entirely. He’s flamboyant and eloquent in speech, but that goes out the window if he finds his limelight being stolen or his coattails are being trodden on. He will become aggressive and raise his voice to the point he often has to be pulled out of danger as caution is thrown to the wind.

I also suppose, it you so desire, you can also draw them as ponies - I know that people are a pain in the butt to draw, and I do like me some cute little horsies, especially when I've got designs for them ;D

FYI, if you take up the challenge of drawing any of them together, there are height differences. Dekker is 3’1, Zeke is 3’5, while Eldris is 5’11 and Nazir is 6’…!

Your Entry Can Be:

    -          Any of these four on their own, in pairs, in a trio or all together (it’s all up to you and we all have favourites ;D)

    -          In any style you wish, you draw (or write/create) what you’re comfortable with or what to improve in.

    -          Try to keep it relatively in character, eg, Dekker won’t be wooing women, Nazir will not be setting fire to a forest, Eldris won’t be brutally murdering thousands and Zeke won’t… well… Zeke’s pretty flexible haha xD

    -          Headshot/half body/full body/grand epic, however you want.

    -          Colour or monochrome.

    -          Try to put effort in if you can – I want you guys to show off, experiment and improve. Rise to the challenge for a prize!

    -          Everything. Photography, manips, models, papercraft, woodcraft, snowmen, drawn in the sand with a stick… BE INVENTIVE 8D

 

Vague Rules :

    -          Play nicely with each other. Do not insult any other artists. If you’re caught doing so, you’ll be out of the running, no matter how glorious your entry may be. We’re all friends here.

    -          Abide by the dA rules, as would be expected – no racism, no outright porn etcetc

    -          If you’re not sure about something just ask. I won’t bite, I promise!

 

 

You can enter as many times as you’d like - there’s no entry limit. If you want to draw a hundred pictures of something from varying angles, be my guest. But you can only place once.

 

You can either post entries in the comment section of this journal, RIGHT HERE, or NOTE them to me. I’ll set up a folder in my favourites for all entries, but I’ll also put thumbnails in this journal as I receive them.

 

 

Things may chance, like the deadline, so keep an eye on this journal. I won’t change too much, but if I’ve forgotten something or need to update, I’ll let people know as I do.
