... well, halfling, not man ;D

Quick-ish picture that sums up last night's DnD session quite nicely. And Dekker in general, since he is a master of selfish self-preservation. But at least he had a good reason this time, even if he was the only one to strike out on his own out of choice. I kind of gave up half way through so it's a little messy etc, but it wasn't going how I wanted to bleh xD Wanted it to be similar to the one of Mori in the forest, but whateeevs, it'll do xD

After being rumbled at the end of the last session while in a room at the top of an inn with countless bad guys of levels we'd never be able to fight and keep our lives, the four hours we had last night were dedicated to a (very confusing) escape. The aim was to get out of the inn and get an unknown distance away from it before we could blend into crowds/hide and we were safe. We had no maps, though I attempted to draw one as we went, so there was much blind running and fighting.

Quite a lot happened so I won't go into copious amounts of detail below (I could write an essay, but I'll be short(ish) with story telling), but let it be known that Dekker was the first to get away safely like the good 'leave them all behind' selfless guy he is - he ran away with the parting call that he'd send letters to their families to let them know of their untimely demise xD

So, at the top of the inn... After the door was barricaded by the cleric and a table, the window smashed and a rope, tied by Dekker as probably his only helpful move, was thrown out to the street 30ft or so below we had to attempt to get down below one by one. Of course, it never works like that so the first to go down, the wizard, got stuck on the rope with two bad guys below. Dekker hit one with a crossbow bolt and then proceeded to mock them from above. The wizard then fell off the rope and was held at blade point. When a barbarian, golem and the Big Bad managed to get in the room, Dekker was the next out the window, but screwed up his climbing down too so wound up hanging off the window ledge. Next go he decided to throw caution to the wind and was allowed to 'dive bomb sneak attack' the two guys threatening the wizard. He also cocked that up and took a little damage, but he did deal some out to one of the baddies too. He had a brief scuffle with a duellist before running off without a look back. The duellist went after him and the two were then stuck in a chase for the rest of the session until Dekker escaped. Somehow he avoided the much faster human with a sword, once because he managed to duck out the way of a blow, once because the guy tripped over his own feet in a lunge, once because the baddie ploughed head first into the ground with a failed tackle and lastly because he tripped over a guard Dekker had managed to topple while darting around. Luck was on his side ;D He spent a lot of the time just running, laughing and hurling abuse over his shoulder. He was the only one who absolutely loved the whole thing and got a kick out of it xD

Meanwhile the others were caught in a conflict outside the inn and a few were knocked dangerously close to death before they managed to split up - the fighter got separated and wound up going in a circle and was the last one to get to freedom, while the cleric, wizard and other fighter tried to aid each other and got free one at a time. Most were a little bloody and beat up. Nazir did the most damage to himself when he attempted to grab the Big Bad in the tavern in a mad move of 'bravery' and hurl him out the window. He took a incendiary crossbow bolt in the shoulder, natural 1'd and threw himself out of the window, missing the Big Bad completely. This is not the first time he's nat 1'd on trying to barrel someone out of a window. The paladin then chose to follow him out the window out of choice haha xD Then the two of them worked together to get to the stable where they got the paladin's warhorse, mounted up together and rode off, and after being chased by the Big Bad and a giant hurling chunks of building at them, they were the next guys to get to safety.

It was a bit of a confusing session, the paladin/cleric player said he didn't particularly enjoy himself and the fighter/wizard got huffy as she was left behind. Meanwhile the rogue/ranger thinks she had fun ;D It was mad, especially as the decisions we made each turn as to what to do were timed, but it was different. And Dekker did what he does best and fled to safety successfully. So if he's good, I'm good ;D
